The JV Tigers finally had a chance to knock the rust off after nearly 3 weeks without a game. It took a couple quarters to get it going, but the team came out on the winning end for the 7th time this season opposed by one loss. Hargrave hit eight 3-pointers in the game in 14 attempts. Sean Parrish and Daniel McCauley were the scoring leaders with 17 each. Eugene Barr followed up with 9 and Gary Sue had 6. Hargrave used every player including new members brought in at semester. The next game will be against Carlisle at home on Thursday afternoon.

Hargrave trailed until late in the 4th quarter but pulled out the win on the road. Daniel McCauley exploded in the 4th quarter with 17 points and had 31 in the game. Eugene Barr had 10. Defense was key in the comeback with reserves playing key roles throughout. Special Thanks to William Riley for taking over emergency coaching duties with Coach Woodruff unable to attend at the last minute with a back injury. Hargrave raises its record to 6 wins with 1 loss.

JV Basketball vs. Westover Christian

May 27, 2011

The most difficult part of coaching at Hargrave for me is to take a group that has never played together before and try to turn them into a "team". Last night, the JV players left behind the individual and turned into a team - at least for one game. All thirteen players played at least 5 minutes, all of them shot the ball at least three times, 10 scored, 10 had rebounds, 9 had assists, 8 had steals, and all 13 cheered while others were on the floor. Finally, we beat a good team by a large amount. This team is a pleasure to coach. I am proud of all of them.

JV Basketball vs. Timberlake Christian

May 27, 2011

A road weary Tigers team ran out of gas against Timberlake last night. Hargrave stayed close until the last minute of the game but came out on the short end of the score. Eugene Barr had 19 points, Daniel McCauley 14 and Matt Long 4. No other player scored. The team plays its first home game next Thursday against its closest rival - Westover.
