USA Swimming vs. CYAC Splash BB/B/C Meet (Age Group)

Several Hargrave Aquatics team members travelled by bus to Charlottesville, Virginia, for a short couse post championship season meet hosted by the Charlottesville YMCA. This was the first trip where the team traveled together by bus. Jospeh Campbell won the 11-12 high point trophey. Great job to all swimmers.

Varsity Basketball vs. Roanoke Catholic

In a hard fought conference game, Hargrave Military Academy fell to Roanoke Catholic, 47-60. The Celtics jumped out to a big first quarter lead, 20-10. After falling behind early, as much as 17 points in the first half, the Tigers fought back to bring it with in 7 in the third quarter. The Celtics proved to be too much to overcome, as they played the Tigers even in the second half.

The Tigers hosted the Miller School on Thursday night, resulting in a 57-85 defeat. Hargrave fell behind early and was never able to claw its way back into the game against a tough conference opponent. The Tigers were lead by Karson Mott with 19 points, Nick Barr with 10 points and 5 assists, and Grant Chandler with 8 points.

Hargrave dropped a home contest against VES, 31-60. Four first quarter three pointers put the Tigers in an early hole. The Tigers were led by Nick Barr with 11 points and Karson Mott with 10 points.

The Tigers lost to St. Anne's-Belfield, 38-70. STAB was able to pull away in the second half after holding a slim 5 point lead at half-time. Hargrave was led by Nick Barr with 20 points and Karson Mott with 8 points and 5 rebounds.

Varsity Basketball vs. Carlisle

Hargrave Military Academy hosted Carlisle on Tuesday night in a hard fought conference battle. Behind strong defense and the hot hand of Karson Mott, the Tigers took a nine point lead into half-time. Mott scored 18 of his 27 points before the break. After intermission, the Chiefs caught fire, hitting 7 of 11 threes in the second half. Using this sharp shooting, Carlisle took the lead during the third quarter and never relinquished it for the rest of the game. The Tigers came with in four in the fourth quarter, but Carlisle iced the game with 6 of 8 free throws down the stretch. Nick Barr contributed 8 points and 14 assists for the Tigers and Grant Chandler kicked in 11 in the losing effort.

Varsity Basketball vs. Roanoke Catholic

Hargrave Military Academy traveled to Roanoke on Friday night to take on the Celtics of Roanoke Catholic. In a conference match up, the Celtics came out hot, scoring 27 first quarter point on the way to a 52-17 half-time lead. The Tigers could not get going offensively but came out in the second half and put forth a great effort. The Tigers were lead by Nick Barr with 27 points and 5 assists. All eleven players saw action for Hargrave.

Varsity Basketball vs. LCA

The Tigers dropped a conference road game to the Bulldogs of Liberty Christian Academy, 41-52. Hargrave came out of the gate playing tough defense, using this effort to grab a second quarter lead for a time. The Bulldogs clawed back into the game a tied the score before half-time.

Varsity Basketball vs. Chatham High

May 26, 2011

The Tigers opened 2007 with a road loss at Chatham High School. Chatham jumped out early to a big lead; connecting on 5 first quarter three point attempts to build a 21-11 first quarter score. The Tigers fought back cutting the deficit to three before the Cavaliers hit a buzzer-beating three pointer right before half time. Chatham continued its timely shooting from distance in the second half, ending the game 10-18 from behind the arc. Hargrave was unable to mount a comeback despite outstanding efforts from Nick Barr (16 pts, 10 asts), Karson Mott (15pts, 12 rebs, 4 stls), and Josh Rudolph (15 pts, 7 rebs). Several bench player gave strong performances, lead by Mike Lee and Grant Chandler (9 pts).
