Varsity Basketball vs. Carlisle School

The Tigers got their biggest win of the season this past Thursday when they defeated the Chiefs of Carlisle 78-63. On offense the Tigers were led by DeAngelo Spruill (30 pts., 5 assist) and DeMario Williams (12 pts., 8 rebs.). Renard Fields (9 pts., 8 rebs., 2 blks.) and Rashad Smith (9 pts., 8 assist) also contributed with solid performances. With the win the Tigers finish the regular season with a record of 11-4 overall and 11-3 conference. The Tigers next game will be this Thursday, February 26th at Lynchburg College, when they will play Covenant School in the first round of the VIC tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

Varsity Basketball vs. Lynchburg Christian Academy

The Tigers got a huge win last night against the Bulldogs of LCA. Leading the way for the Tigers were DeAngelo Spruill (20 pts., 8 assist), Renard Fields (10 pts., 9 rebs.) and Demario Williams (11 pts., 6 rebs., 3 steals). Rashad Smith (8 pts., 5 assist, 2 steals) and Jacob Floyd (4 pts., 9 rebs., and 3 assist) also turned in solid performances. With the win the Tigers record improves to 10-4 overall and 10-3 conference. The win also qualifies the Tigers for the VIC Tournament, which starts next Thursday, February 26th, at Lynchburg College.

Varsity Basketball vs. Roanoke Valley

The Tigers got a big win on Monday as they defeated Roanoke Valley Christian 74 - 57. Leading the way for the Tigers on offense were Renard Fields (21 pts., 10 rebs., 3 blks.), Jay Edosowan (12 pts., 8 rebs., 2 blks), Jacob Floyd (11 pts., 12 rebs.), and DeAngelo Spruill (11 pts., 7 assist, 2 steals). Rashad Smith, Clarence Conrad, Avon Makel, and Terry Teal also contributed with solid performances. With the win the Tigers record improves to 9-4 overall and 9-3 conference. The Tigers will hit the road on Tuesday, February 17, to take on Lynchburg CHristian Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Varsity Basketball vs. Timberlake Christian Academy

The Tigers were able to pull out a hard fought victory over the Tornandos of Timberlake 68-61. After trailing most of the first half, the Tigers were able to get within three points after three quarters of play. This was brought on by the excellent play of the bench (non-starters), who were led by Clarence Conrad (14 pts. 4-5 3pts.) and Jay Edosowan (7 pts. and 9 rebs.). Terry Teal and Jarod Leaper also contributed to this much needed burst of energy. Renard Fields (16 pts., 10 rebs.) also came off the bench to have a huge night on both ends of the court for the Tigers. Starters Rashad Smith (12 pts, 3 assist, 4 steals), DeAngelo Spruill ( 11 pts., 6 assist, 2 steals) and Jacob Floyd (6 pts., 7 rebs., 2 steals) also had solid games. Overall, the entire team showed a lot of heart and pulled it together when they needed to. Great effort by all of the players. With the win the Tigers record improves to 8-4 overall and 8-3 in conference play. Hargrave will return to action on Monday, February 16th, when they will host Roanoke Valley Christian School. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm. Note - This game was originally scheduled to be played on January 27th, but because of snow was rescheduled.

Varsity Basketball vs. North Cross School

The Tigers got a big win over a very scrappy and much improved North Cross School. The score remained close throughout most of the game. However, the Tigers were able to pull away late by converting some huge free throws to seal the win. Hargrave offensively had five players in double figures. They were led by DeAngelo Spruill (16 pts., 4 assist, 2 steals), Jacob Floyd (14 pts., 9 reb., 2 steals), Marcus Wright (12 pts., 10 reb., 2 blks.), Rashad Smith (12 pts., 5 reb., 4 assist, and 4 steals) and Avon Mackel (10 pts., 5 reb., 3 assist, and 2 steals. Jay Edosowan (3 pts., 7 reb., 2 blocks) also had a solid night coming off the bench. With the win the Tigers record improves to 7-4 overall, 7-3 conference. Hargrave returns to action on Thursday, February 12th, when they will take on Timberlake Christian Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

The Tigers got a much needed win against a very scrappy Westover Christian Academy this past Friday night. Every player on the team saw significant playing time with each contributing to the win. Offensively the Tigers were led by DeMario Williams (14 pts, 9 reb, 2 blks), DeAngelo Spruill (14 pts and 8 assist), Jacob Floyd (10 pts, 9 reb, 4 assist) and Clarence Conrad (9 pts, 3 assist, 2 steals). Marcus Wright (9 pts, 10 rebounds, 2 blks) and Renard Fields (6 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blks) also had great games on both ends of the floor. With the win the Tigers improve their record to 6-4 overall and 6-3 in conference. The Tigers will return to the hardwoods on Tuesday, February 10, when they will travel to Roanoke, Virginia to take on North Cross School. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.

The Tigers played hard last night, but lost in the end to a very good Holy Cross team. Leading the way for the Tigers on offense was Rashad Smith (16 points, 4 assist, and 3 steals) and DeMario Williams (16 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks). Marcus Wright (9 points and 9 rebounds) also had a solid night coming off the bench. The Tigers return to action on Friday, February 6th when they will travel to Westover Christian Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Tigers lost a hard fought contest to a very good Oak Hill Academy 67 - 87. The Tigers were led on offense by Rashad Smith (24 pts, 5 steals, 4 assist) and DeAngelo Spruill (21 pts, 4 assist). Senior Jacob Floyd (10 pts, 9 reb) also had a solid night. Hargrave's record falls to 5-3 overall. The Tigers return to action at home Tuesday, February 3, when they will face Holy Cross. The Tigers lost a hard fought game to the hot shooting Chiefs of Carlisle. Early on the Tigers were able to set the tempo and led most of the first three quarters of play. However, the Tigers ran into some serious foul trouble in the third and forth quarters. Carlisle responded by hitting 29 of 38 free throws, which allowed them to take the lead and pull away late in the game. Hargrave's record falls to 5-2 in conference and overall. All 13 players had significant minutes and played well. As well as above JP Bonilla did an excellent job on defense and scored. Other outstanding jobs were done by Jarrod Leaper and Kayode Ogunnaike.
