Varsity Basketball vs. VIC Championship – VES

Hargrave Military Academy lost its opening game of the VIC Tournament to the Bishops of Virginia Episcopal School. In a rematch of a two point win five days earlier, VES was able to defeat the Tigers 53-48. The Tigers were tied with the Bishops at the end of one quarter of play, but the second quarter was all VES, as the Bishops doubled the Tigers output to take a nine point halftime lead.

The first meet of year for Hargrave Aquatics was a very successful meet. By the meet’s end. the team had total seven new team records and a 10th place finish out of 24 teams participating.
Varsity Basketball vs. Virginia Episcopal

Hargrave closed its regular season with a 48-46 victory over the Bishops of Virginia Episcopal School. After falling behind 2-0, the Tigers controlled the first quarter, outscoring the Bishops 11-3. The lead was never relinquished as the Tigers lead by four at half and built a 10 point lead in the third quarter. VES came back in the fourth to tie the game, but the Tigers were able to hold on for the win. With the victory, the Tigers finish the regular season 12-8. Conference tournament play begins Tuesday with the opponent to be determined.
Varsity Basketball vs. Liberty Christian

The Tigers secured a conference victory last night against the Bulldogs of Liberty Christian Academy. In a slow paced game, Hargrave did not see a lead until the fourth quarter. LCA was able to control the ball, leading to a first half margin of 19-17 in favor of the Bulldogs.

Hargrave returned to the win column with a victory over the Raiders of North Cross, 79-76. The Tigers controlled the game from the opening tip but were unable to put the Raiders away until late. Offense was the theme as the Tigers scored 18 or more points in every quarter. The Half-time score was 40-37.
Varsity Basketball vs. Covenant School

Hargrave secured a tough road victory over Covenant, 90-83. In an up-tempo game, Hargrave sprinted out to a 19-16 first quarter lead and maintained a two point lead going into the locker room. Covenant came back in the third quarter, taking the lead and building it to six points at one time. The Tigers battled back a held a slim one point lead going into the fourth. In an exciting fourth quarter, Hargrave scored 35 points, pushing the lead to ten with four minutes left in the game. Covenant was forced to foul to stop the clock and clutch free throw shooting sealed the victory for the Tigers.

The rough and tumble swimmers of Hargrave Aquatics arrived at George Mason University for 2004 Long Couse Age Group Championship ready for action. Brittany Abbott, Jessica Abbott, Jacob Conner, Jesse Conner, Jennifer Murphy and CJ Olp represented one of the largest and fastest teams Hargrave has yet fielded at the meet.
Varsity Basketball vs. Miller School

The Tigers fell to #5 Miller is a road contest, 100-54. Hargrave fell behind early and could not stop the potent offense of the Mavericks. Hargrave was limited to 19 first half points. The Tigers were lead by Mike Rodriquez with 15 points and Brian Sigmon with 11 points. Hargrave will return to action Saturday February 2, 2008. Tip is set for 6:00 at the Covenant School.

Hargrave Aquatics Seniors stole the show with several impressive performances. CJ Olp captured two Age Group (AG) Cuts and a first in the 200m Breaststroke. Brittany Abbott hit her stride as she earned AG cuts in the 200m Backstroke and 1500m Freestyle. Drew Bennett came close to earning his 1500m Freestyle and 200m Backstroke AG cuts. Jacob Conner earned a 400 IM AG cut. Jennifer Murphy captured her 50m and 100m Breaststroke AG cuts, while smashing the competition. Sami Norman led the Novice group with several successful swims. This was an outstanding meet for almost everyone that attended. Great job.
Varsity Basketball vs. Holy Cross

Hargrave returned to the win column with a 76-32 victory over the Gaels of Holy Cross. Five players scored in double figures and the Tigers controlled the game from the opening tip, taking a 39-18 lead into the locker room. It was much the same in the second half, as every Tiger saw action in the decisive victory.
